ഞാൻ അപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങുന്നു.I step outside from the apartment.

Storyboard: Maya enters the bright office building. Her colleague Prakash greets her with a warm smile, welcomes her to the team, and asks if she has her entry badge yet. Maya replies that she does not.
ഞാൻ ഓഫീസ് കെട്ടിടത്തിൽ കയറുന്നു.I enter the office building.
കെട്ടിടത്തിൽ നല്ല വെളിച്ചമുണ്ട്.The building is very bright.
ഇതൊരു മനോഹരമായ ജനുവരി പ്രഭാതമാണ്.It is a beautiful January morning.
ഞാൻ എൻ്റെ പുതിയ സഹപ്രവർത്തകനെ കാണുന്നു.I see my new colleague.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ പേര് പ്രകാശ് എന്നാണ്.His name is Prakash.
പ്രകാശ് എന്നെ നോക്കി ചിരിക്കുന്നു.Prakash smiles at me.
"നമസ്കാരം, മായാ," പ്രകാശ് പറയുന്നു."Namaskaram, Maya," Prakash says.
"നമ്മുടെ ടീമിലേക്ക് സ്വാഗതം.""Welcome to our team."
"നമസ്കാരം, പ്രകാശ്," ഞാൻ മറുപടി പറയുന്നു."Namaskaram, Prakash," I reply.
"വളരെ നന്ദി.""Thank you very much."
"നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എൻട്രി ബാഡ്ജ് ഉണ്ടോ?""Do you have an entry badge?"
"ഇല്ല, എനിക്ക് ബാഡ്ജ് ഇല്ല," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."No, I do not have a badge," I say.
പ്രകാശ് വീണ്ടും ചിരിക്കുന്നു.Prakash smiles again.
"കുഴപ്പമില്ല," അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു."No problem," he says.
ഞാൻ പ്രകാശിൻ്റെ കൂടെ അകത്തേക്ക് നടക്കുന്നു.I walk inside with Prakash.
എനിക്ക് പുതിയ ഓഫീസിൽ വളരെ സന്തോഷമുണ്ട്.I am very happy in the new office.

Storyboard: Prakash leads Maya to her workspace. Maya unpacks her bag, turns on her laptop, and tells Prakash she has all the necessary equipment to start working.
പ്രകാശ് പുതിയ മേശയുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് നടക്കുന്നു.Prakash walks to the new desk.
ഞാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൂടെ നടക്കുന്നു.I walk with him.
"ഇതാണ് മായയുടെ മേശ," പ്രകാശ് പറയുന്നു."This is your desk, Maya," Prakash says.
എനിക്ക് ഈ മേശ ഇഷ്ടമാണ്.I like this desk.
ഞാൻ എന്റെ ബാഗ് മേശപ്പുറത്ത് വെക്കുന്നു.I put my bag on the desk.
ഞാൻ ബാഗിൽ നിന്ന് ലാപ്ടോപ്പ് എടുക്കുന്നു.I take the laptop from the bag.
ഞാൻ ലാപ്ടോപ്പ് തുറക്കുന്നു.I open the laptop.
"മായയ്ക്ക് മൗസ് ഉണ്ടോ?" പ്രകാശ് ചോദിക്കുന്നു."Do you have a mouse, Maya?" Prakash asks.
"അതെ, എനിക്ക് മൗസ് ഉണ്ട്," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."Yes, I have a mouse," I say.
ഞാൻ ബാഗിൽ നിന്ന് മൗസ് പുറത്തെടുക്കുന്നു.I take the mouse out of the bag.
"ഒരു പേന ഉണ്ടോ?" പ്രകാശ് ചോദിക്കുന്നു."Do you have a pen?" Prakash asks.
"ഇല്ല, എനിക്ക് പേന ഇല്ല," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."No, I do not have a pen," I say.
പ്രകാശ് എനിക്ക് ഒരു നീല പേന തരുന്നു.Prakash gives me a blue pen.
"നന്ദി," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."Thank you," I say.
ഇപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് എല്ലാ സാധനങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.Now I have all the things.
ഞാൻ കസേരയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.I sit in the chair.
ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജോലി തുടങ്ങുന്നു.I start my work.
mobile shop
Storyboard: During her lunch break, Maya walks to a nearby mobile shop to buy an Indian SIM card. The shopkeeper gives her a registration form and asks her age. Maya explains that she is thirty-one years old.
ഇപ്പോൾ ഉച്ചസമയമാണ്.It is lunchtime now.
ഞാൻ ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തേക്ക് നടക്കുന്നു.I walk outside from the office.
എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ സിം കാർഡ് വേണം.I want an Indian SIM card.
ഞാൻ അടുത്തുള്ള ഒരു മൊബൈൽ കടയിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നു.I go to a nearby mobile shop.
കടയിൽ വലിയ തിരക്കില്ല.There is no big crowd in the shop.
ഞാൻ കടക്കാരനോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.I speak to the shopkeeper.
"നമസ്കാരം, എനിക്ക് ഒരു പുതിയ സിം കാർഡ് വേണം," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."Hello, I want a new SIM card," I say.
കടക്കാരൻ എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഫോം തരുന്നു.The shopkeeper gives me a form.
ഞാൻ ഫോമിൽ എന്റെ പേര് എഴുതുന്നു.I write my name on the form.
"മേഡത്തിന് ഐഡി കാർഡ് ഉണ്ടോ?" കടക്കാരൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നു."Does Madam have an ID card?" the shopkeeper asks.
"അതെ, എനിക്ക് പാസ്പോർട്ട് ഉണ്ട്," ഞാൻ മറുപടി പറയുന്നു."Yes, I have a passport," I reply.
എനിക്ക് മുപ്പത്തിയൊന്ന് വയസ്സാണ്.I am thirty-one years old.
ഞാൻ അത് ഫോമിൽ എഴുതുന്നു.I write it on the form.
അയാൾ എന്റെ പാസ്പോർട്ട് നോക്കുന്നു.He looks at my passport.
പുതിയ സിം കാർഡിന് മുന്നൂറ് രൂപയാണ്.The new SIM card is three hundred rupees.

Storyboard: The shopkeeper hands over the activated SIM card and asks Maya to verify the digits. Maya carefully reads her new mobile number aloud in Malayalam words—nine eight seven six five, four three two one zero—to make sure it is correct.
ഞാൻ മൊബൈൽ കടയിൽ നിൽക്കുന്നു.I stand in the mobile shop.
കടക്കാരൻ എനിക്ക് പുതിയ സിം കാർഡ് തരുന്നു.The shopkeeper gives me the new SIM card.
അയാൾ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറിൽ നോക്കുന്നു.He looks at the computer.
അയാൾ പറയുന്നു, "സിം ഇപ്പോൾ ആക്ടീവ് ആണ്."He says, "The SIM is active now."
ഞാൻ സിം കാർഡ് എന്റെ ഫോണിൽ ഇടുന്നു.I put the SIM card in my phone.
കടക്കാരൻ എനിക്ക് ഒരു കടലാസ് തരുന്നു.The shopkeeper gives me a paper.
ഞാൻ കടലാസിലെ പുതിയ നമ്പർ നോക്കുന്നു.I look at the new number on the paper.
ഞാൻ നമ്പർ ഉറക്കെ വായിക്കുന്നു.I read the number aloud.
"തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിയെട്ട്, എഴുപത്തിയാറ്, അമ്പത്തിനാല്, മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ട്, പത്ത്.""Ninety eight, seventy six, fifty four, thirty two, ten."
കടക്കാരൻ ചിരിക്കുന്നു.The shopkeeper smiles.
അയാൾ ചോദിക്കുന്നു, "ഇപ്പോൾ നെറ്റ്വർക്ക് സിഗ്നൽ ഉണ്ടോ?"He asks, "Do you have a network signal now?"
ഞാൻ ഫോണിൽ നോക്കുന്നു.I look at the phone.
ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു, "അതെ, എനിക്ക് സിഗ്നൽ ഉണ്ട്."I say, "Yes, I have a signal."
ഞാൻ അയാൾക്ക് മുന്നൂറ് രൂപ കൊടുക്കുന്നു.I give him three hundred rupees.
ഇപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ മൊബൈൽ നമ്പർ ഉണ്ട്.Now I have an Indian mobile number.
government office
Storyboard: The following day, Maya visits a busy government office in the city to complete her residence registration. She takes a paper ticket and sits patiently on a wooden bench.
ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ ഒരു സർക്കാർ ഓഫീസിൽ പോകുന്നു.Today I go to a government office.
ഓഫീസ് നഗരത്തിൽ ആണ്.The office is in the city.
ഇതൊരു വലിയ ഓഫീസാണ്.This is a big office.
ഇവിടെ ഒരുപാട് ആളുകൾ ഉണ്ട്.There are many people here.
ഓഫീസിൽ നല്ല തിരക്കാണ്.The office is very busy.
ഞാൻ അകത്തേക്ക് പോകുന്നു.I go inside.
എനിക്ക് ഇവിടെ രജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ ഉണ്ട്.I have a registration here.
അവിടെ ഒരു മെഷീൻ ഉണ്ട്.There is a machine there.
ഞാൻ അതിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു ടോക്കൺ എടുക്കുന്നു.I take a token from it.
അതൊരു കടലാസ് ടിക്കറ്റാണ്.It is a paper ticket.

ഓഫീസിൽ ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ നമ്പറുകൾ വിളിക്കുന്നു.An official in the office calls out numbers.
ഞാൻ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേൾക്കുന്നു.I listen carefully.

registration desk
Storyboard: An official calls Maya to the desk and requests her local contact number. Maya recites her new mobile number aloud in Malayalam words again. The official asks if she has a local driving license, and she answers that she does not.
ഞാൻ സർക്കാർ ഓഫീസിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.I sit in the government office.
ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ എന്റെ പേര് വിളിക്കുന്നു.An official calls my name.
ഞാൻ ഡെസ്കിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് പോകുന്നു.I go to the desk.
അദ്ദേഹം എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ നോക്കുന്നു.He looks at my application.
അദ്ദേഹം എന്നോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു: "നിങ്ങളുടെ ഫോൺ നമ്പർ എന്താണ്?"He asks me: "What is your phone number?"
ഞാൻ എന്റെ പുതിയ നമ്പർ പറയുന്നു.I say my new number.

ഞാൻ മറുപടി പറയുന്നു.I reply.
"ഇല്ല, എനിക്ക് ഡ്രൈവിംഗ് ലൈസൻസ് ഇല്ല.""No, I do not have a driving license."
അദ്ദേഹം തല ആട്ടുന്നു.He nods his head.
അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു പേപ്പർ എനിക്ക് തരുന്നു.He gives a paper to me.
ഞാൻ പേപ്പറിൽ ഒപ്പിടുന്നു.I sign the paper.
എന്റെ രജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ പൂർത്തിയാകുന്നു.My registration is complete.
tea stall treat
Storyboard: Her errands finally complete, Maya stops at a small roadside thattukada. She orders a steaming glass of chaya and a warm pazhampori, happily paying a few rupees for the snack.
ഞാൻ പുറത്തേക്ക് നടക്കുന്നു.I walk outside.
ജനുവരിയിലെ കാലാവസ്ഥ വളരെ നല്ലതാണ്.The weather in January is very good.
വഴിയിൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു ചെറിയ തട്ടുകട കാണുന്നു.I see a small tea stall on the way.
ഞാൻ അവിടേക്ക് പോകുന്നു.I go there.
അവിടെ ഒരാൾ ചായ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.A man makes tea there.
എനിക്ക് നല്ല വിശപ്പുണ്ട്.I am very hungry.
"എനിക്ക് ഒരു ചായ വേണം," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."I need a tea," I say.
"ചൂട് പഴംപൊരി വേണോ?" അയാൾ ചോദിക്കുന്നു."Do you want hot pazhampori?" he asks.
"വേണം," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."Yes, please," I say.
അയാൾ എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഗ്ലാസ്സ് ചായ തരുന്നു.He gives me a glass of tea.
കൂടെ ഒരു പഴംപൊരിയും തരുന്നു.He gives a pazhampori with it too.
പഴംപൊരിക്ക് നല്ല മധുരമുണ്ട്.The pazhampori is very sweet.
ഞാൻ ചായ കുടിക്കുന്നു.I drink the tea.
"എത്ര രൂപയാണ്?" ഞാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നു."How much is it?" I ask.
"ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ച് രൂപ," അയാൾ മറുപടി പറയുന്നു."Twenty-five rupees," he replies.
ഞാൻ ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ച് രൂപ കൊടുക്കുന്നു.I give twenty-five rupees.
