Storyboard: Maya wakes up on a Wednesday morning. She steps out onto her small balcony to stretch. The sun shines brightly, and she instantly feels the heavy Kochi summer heat.

Storyboard: Preparing for a hot day, Maya wears her new light blue cotton kurta. She looks at her umbrella but decides the morning sun is too bright to believe the rain forecast. She leaves the umbrella behind and packs her white cotton scarf instead.

Storyboard: Maya walks to the bus stop. The morning sun is extremely harsh on the street. She takes out the white scarf and wears it over her head to block the strong sunlight while waiting.
ഞാൻ ബസ് സ്റ്റോപ്പിലേക്ക് നടക്കുന്നു.I am walking to the bus stop.
ഇപ്പോൾ രാവിലെയാണ്.It is morning now.
എന്നാൽ പുറത്ത് നല്ല വെയിലാണ്.But it is very sunny outside.
റോഡിൽ വലിയ ചൂടാണ്.It is very hot on the road.

afternoon heat
Storyboard: At lunchtime, Maya and her colleague Prakash step out of the air-conditioned office building. A sudden blast of hot air hits them instantly, and Prakash remarks on how hot and sunny the day is.
ഉച്ചസമയമാണ്.It is lunchtime.
ഞാനും പ്രകാശും ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങുന്നു.Prakash and I step out of the office.
ഓഫീസിൽ എസി ഉണ്ട്.There is AC in the office.
അതുകൊണ്ട് അവിടെ നല്ല തണുപ്പാണ്.So it is very cold there.
ഞങ്ങൾ പുറത്തേക്ക് വരുന്നു.We come outside.
പെട്ടെന്ന് ഒരു ചൂട് കാറ്റ് അടിക്കുന്നു.Suddenly, a hot wind blows.
പ്രകാശ് ആകാശത്തേക്ക് നോക്കുന്നു.Prakash looks at the sky.
"മായേ, ഇന്ന് വല്ലാത്ത ചൂടാണ്," അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു."Maya, it is terribly hot today," he says.
ഞാൻ അത് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു.I agree with that.
"അതെ, നല്ല ചൂടാണ്," ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു."Yes, it is very hot," I say.
"ഇന്ന് മഴ പെയ്യുമോ?" പ്രകാശ് എന്നോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു."Will it rain today?" Prakash asks me.
"വെതർ ആപ്പ് പറയുന്നു, വൈകുന്നേരം മഴ പെയ്യും," ഞാൻ മറുപടി പറയുന്നു."The weather app says, it will rain in the evening," I reply.
പ്രകാശ് ചിരിക്കുന്നു.Prakash laughs.
"ഈ വെയിൽ നോക്കൂ!" അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു."Look at this sun!" he says.
"ഇന്ന് മഴ പെയ്യുകയില്ല.""It will not rain today."
എനിക്കും അങ്ങനെ തോന്നുന്നു.I also think so.
ഞങ്ങൾ കാന്റീനിലേക്ക് വേഗത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നു.We walk quickly to the canteen.
ഈ ചൂടിൽ എനിക്ക് തണുത്ത വെള്ളം കുടിക്കണം.In this heat, I want to drink cold water.
dark clouds gather
Storyboard: At five o'clock, Maya leaves the office. The sky is suddenly dark with heavy black clouds. The hot sun is completely gone, and a strong, cool wind blows across the campus.
സമയം അഞ്ച് മണിയാണ്.It is five o'clock.
ഞാൻ ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങുന്നു.I step out of the office.
പുറത്ത് പെട്ടെന്ന് നല്ല ഇരുട്ടാകുന്നു.It suddenly becomes very dark outside.
ഞാൻ ആകാശം നോക്കുന്നു.I look at the sky.
ആകാശത്ത് വലിയ കറുത്ത മേഘങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്.There are big black clouds in the sky.
രാവിലെ നല്ല വെയിലായിരുന്നു.It was very sunny in the morning.
പക്ഷേ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒട്ടും വെയിലില്ല.But now there is no sunlight at all.
അതുപോലെ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒട്ടും ചൂടില്ല.Likewise, it is not hot at all now.

the first rain
Storyboard: Suddenly, a loud thunderclap sounds and heavy rain falls. Maya regrets leaving her umbrella at home! She runs to the bus stop shelter to stay dry, watching her first sudden Kochi downpour.
പെട്ടെന്ന്, ഞാൻ ഒരു വലിയ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കുന്നു.Suddenly, I hear a loud sound.

Storyboard: Maya boards the bus home. As the heavy rain blows sideways, she helps the other passengers pull down the metal window shutters to keep the water out. The air inside the bus feels wonderfully cool.
ഞാൻ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് പോകാൻ ബസ്സിൽ കയറുന്നു.I board the bus to go home.
പുറത്ത് നല്ല മഴ പെയ്യുന്നു.It is raining heavily outside.
ഇപ്പോൾ ശക്തമായ കാറ്റ് അടിക്കുന്നു.Now a strong wind blows.
മഴവെള്ളം ജനലിലൂടെ ബസ്സിനുള്ളിലേക്ക് വരുന്നു.Rainwater comes inside the bus through the window.
ഒരു യാത്രക്കാരൻ ഇരുമ്പ് ജനൽ താഴേക്ക് വലിച്ചിടുന്നു.A passenger pulls down the metal window.

Storyboard: Maya arrives back at her apartment. She opens the window and stands there a while, feeling the newly cool evening air after the rain. With the hot weather finally broken, she closes the day quietly at the window.
ഞാൻ എൻ്റെ ഫ്ലാറ്റിൽ എത്തുന്നു.I reach my flat.
ഇപ്പോൾ വലിയ മഴ ഇല്ല.Now there is no heavy rain.
ചെറിയ കാറ്റ് വീശുന്നു.A light wind blows.
