Week 4: Maya moves into her permanent flat

Storyboard: Maya gathers her final belongings in her temporary room. She checks the space carefully, making sure nothing is left lying on the bed or inside the small cupboard before she zips up her suitcase.

corridor walk
Storyboard: Maya rolls her heavy suitcase out into the corridor. Her neighbour Asha meets her there, cheerfully taking Maya's smaller bag, and they walk together towards the permanent flat in the same building.
मी माझी जड सुटकेस बाहेर काढते.	I take my heavy suitcase out.
मी ती पॅसेजमध्ये आणते.	I bring it into the corridor.
माझी लहान बॅग सुटकेसवर ठेवली आहे.	My small bag is placed on the suitcase.

Storyboard: Maya slides her new key into the lock and pushes the door open. She steps inside and looks around the bright, furnished living room, happy to finally see her real home.
माझ्या हातात नवीन किल्ली आहे.	I have the new key in my hand.
मी दरवाजाजवळ उभी आहे.	I am standing near the door.
मी कुलपात किल्ली घालते.	I put the key in the lock.

dropping the bags
Storyboard: Maya leaves her large suitcase on the floor near the door. Asha sets the small bag down right next to it, telling Maya to take her time getting settled.
आम्ही नवीन फ्लॅटमध्ये आहोत.	We are in the new flat.
माझी मोठी सुटकेस खूप जड आहे.	My big suitcase is very heavy.
मी सुटकेस खाली जमिनीवर ठेवते.	I put the suitcase down on the floor.

आशा आत येते.	Asha comes inside.

मी आशाला हो म्हणते.	I say yes to Asha.
मी सुटकेसकडे पाहते.	I look at the suitcase.
मला खूप शांत वाटते.	I feel very calm.
kitchen inspection
Storyboard: Maya explores the small kitchen to see what is already there. She finds a few heavy pots kept in the cabinets below the counter, and some cups neatly placed on the shelf above.
मी स्वयंपाकघरात जाते.	I go into the kitchen.
माझे नवीन स्वयंपाकघर लहान आहे.	My new kitchen is small.
पण ते खूप स्वच्छ आहे.	But it is very clean.

arranging the bedroom
Storyboard: Moving into the bedroom, Maya unpacks her clothes. She hangs her shirts in the wooden wardrobe and slides the empty suitcase out of the way under the bed.
मी बेडरूममध्ये जाते.	I go into the bedroom.
ही बेडरूम छोटी आणि छान आहे.	This bedroom is small and nice.
खोलीत एक लाकडी कपाट आहे.	There is a wooden wardrobe in the room.

Storyboard: Maya decides where her home office goes. She takes her laptop out of her backpack and places it carefully on the desk near the window, arranging her notebooks beside it.
मी दिवाणखान्यात पाहते.	I look around the living room.
तिथे खिडकीजवळ एक छान टेबल आहे.	There is a nice desk near the window there.
ती जागा माझ्या कामासाठी योग्य आहे.	That place is perfect for my work.
मी माझी मोठी बॅग एका खुर्चीवर ठेवते.	I put my large bag on a chair.

मी खुर्चीवर बसते.	I sit on the chair.
खिडकीबाहेरची हवा खूप छान आहे.	The breeze outside the window is very nice.
मला हा कोपरा खूप आवडतो.	I like this corner a lot.
asha brings chai
Storyboard: Asha knocks lightly on the open front door, bringing two fresh cups of hot chai. She steps inside and places the cups on the small table in the living room so they can take a break.
मी दिवाणखान्यात आहे.	I am in the living room.
माझ्या घराचा मुख्य दरवाजा उघडा आहे.	The front door of my house is open.
आशा उघड्या दरवाज्यावर हळूच थाप मारते.	Asha knocks gently on the open door.
मी दरवाज्याकडे पाहते.	I look towards the door.
आशा दरवाज्याजवळ उभी आहे.	Asha is standing near the door.
तिच्या हातात दोन कप आहेत.	There are two cups in her hands.
ती विचारते, "माया, मी आत येऊ का?"	She asks, "Maya, may I come in?"
मी म्हणते, "हो आशा, आत या."	I say, "Yes Asha, come in."
आशा घरात येते.	Asha comes inside the house.
कपांमध्ये गरम चहा आहे.	There is hot tea in the cups.
दिवाणखान्यात एक लहान टेबल आहे.	There is a small table in the living room.
आशा चहाचे कप त्या टेबलावर ठेवते.	Asha places the tea cups on that table.
ती म्हणते, "मी चहा टेबलावर ठेवला आहे."	She says, "I have placed the tea on the table."
ती पुढे म्हणते, "आता थोडा वेळ विश्रांती घ्या."	She says further, "Take a rest for a short while now."
मी हसते आणि म्हणते, "खूप खूप धन्यवाद."	I smile and say, "Thank you very much."
आशा टेबलाजवळ सोफ्यावर बसते.	Asha sits on the sofa near the table.
मी जवळच्या खुर्चीवर बसते.	I sit on the nearby chair.
आम्ही गरम चहा पितो.	We drink the hot tea.
मला आता नव्या घरात खूप छान वाटतं.	I feel very nice in the new house now.
first quiet evening
Storyboard: After Asha says goodnight and leaves, Maya sits alone on her comfortable sofa. She looks around at her neatly arranged flat, her things finally in their proper places, and feels completely at home in Mumbai.
"शुभ रात्री, माया," आशा म्हणते.	"Goodnight, Maya," Asha says.
"शुभ रात्री, आशा."	"Goodnight, Asha."
"खूप धन्यवाद," मी म्हणते.	"Thanks a lot," I say.
आशा तिच्या घरी जाते.	Asha goes to her home.
मी दरवाजा बंद करते.	I close the door.
आता मी फ्लॅटमध्ये एकटी आहे.	Now I am alone in the flat.
घरात अगदी शांतता आहे.	It is completely quiet in the house.
मी सोफ्यावर बसते.	I sit on the sofa.
हा सोफा खूप आरामदायक आहे.	This sofa is very comfortable.
मी खोलीत सगळीकडे पाहते.	I look everywhere in the room.
