Storyboard: Maya walks into the lively outdoor neighbourhood market. Vendors call out fresh items, and the street is full of colours and noise. She holds her reusable cloth bags and reviews her shopping list.
सकाळची वेळ आहे.It is morning time.
मी माझ्या घराजवळच्या बाजारात आहे.I am in the market near my house.
हा बाजार खूप मोठा आहे.This market is very big.
इथे आज खूप गर्दी आहे.There is a lot of crowd here today.
सगळीकडे खूप आवाज आणि रंग आहेत.There are many sounds and colours everywhere.
विक्रेते लोकांना हाक मारत आहेत.Vendors are calling out to people.

Storyboard: Maya stops at a fruit cart. A small cardboard sign shows the price of bananas per dozen. She addresses the young vendor as bhaiya, says she wants half a dozen, and hands him a large note, waiting while he counts out her change in rupees.

Storyboard: At a busy vegetable stall, Maya points to the fresh tomatoes and asks how much they are per kilo. The vendor weighs out a small batch for her, and she asks him for the total amount before paying.
मी एका भाज्यांच्या दुकानाकडे जाते.I go towards a vegetable stall.
तिथे खूप गर्दी आहे.It is very crowded there.
दुकानात ताजे, लाल टोमॅटो आहेत.There are fresh, red tomatoes in the shop.
मी दुकानदाराला विचारते.I ask the shopkeeper.
"दादा, टोमॅटो काय भाव आहे?""Brother, what is the price of tomatoes?"
दुकानदार एक टोमॅटो हातात घेतो.The shopkeeper takes a tomato in his hand.
तो मला सांगतो, "चाळीस रुपये किलो, मॅडम."He tells me, "Forty rupees a kilo, Madam."
टोमॅटो खरोखरच खूप छान आहेत.The tomatoes are indeed very nice.
मी त्याला म्हणते, "मला अर्धा किलो टोमॅटो द्या."I say to him, "Give me half a kilo of tomatoes."
तो तराजूमध्ये टोमॅटो टाकतो.He puts tomatoes in the weighing scale.
मग तो वजन करतो.Then he weighs them.
मी माझी कापडी पिशवी उघडते.I open my cloth bag.
तो ते टोमॅटो माझ्या पिशवीत टाकतो.He puts those tomatoes into my bag.
मी त्याला विचारते, "किती झाले?"I ask him, "How much is it?"
तो सांगतो, "फक्त वीस रुपये."He says, "Only twenty rupees."
मी माझ्या पाकिटातून वीस रुपयांची नोट काढते.I take out a twenty-rupee note from my wallet.
मी ती नोट त्याला देते.I give that note to him.
तो पैसे घेतो आणि म्हणतो, "धन्यवाद, मॅडम."He takes the money and says, "Thank you, Madam."

Storyboard: Maya approaches a spice stall run by an elderly man. She respectfully calls him chacha, and he proudly offers her a pinch of a special tea masala to smell. She loves the aroma and tells him to give her a small packet.
मी बाजारात पुढे जाते.I go further into the market.
तिथे मसाल्यांचे एक दुकान आहे.There is a spice stall there.
दुकानात एक काका बसले आहेत.An elderly man is sitting in the stall.
मी दुकानाजवळ जाते.I go near the stall.
"काका, नमस्कार," मी म्हणते."Kaka, hello," I say.
"नमस्कार मॅडम," ते म्हणतात."Hello, madam," he says.
ते मला एक छोटा डबा दाखवतात.He shows me a small box.
"हा चहाचा खास मसाला आहे," ते म्हणतात."This is a special tea masala," he says.
"तुम्ही याचा सुवास घ्या," ते अभिमानाने सांगतात."You smell this," he says proudly.
ते मला चिमूटभर मसाला देतात.He gives me a pinch of masala.
मी मसाल्याचा सुवास घेते.I smell the masala.
सुवास खूप छान आहे.The aroma is very nice.
मला तो खूप आवडतो.I like it a lot.
"मला हा मसाला हवा आहे," मी सांगते."I want this masala," I say.
"मला एक छोटे पाकीट द्या," मी म्हणते."Give me a small packet," I say.
"याचा काय भाव आहे?" मी विचारते."What is the price for this?" I ask.
"पन्नास रुपये," काका म्हणतात."Fifty rupees," Kaka says.
मी त्यांना पन्नास रुपये देते.I give him fifty rupees.
मी मसाल्याचे पाकीट माझ्या कापडी पिशवीत ठेवते.I put the spice packet in my cloth bag.

Storyboard: Maya browses a small homeware stall and spots a beautifully painted ceramic mug. She asks the vendor the price, but the amount he names is much too high for her budget. She smiles, politely says she does not need it right now, and moves on.
पुढच्या दुकानात सुंदर वस्तू आहेत.The next shop has beautiful things.
मला एक छोटे दुकान दिसते.I see a small stall.
तिथे अनेक रंगीत वस्तू आहेत.There are many colourful items there.
मला एक सुंदर चिनी मातीचा मग दिसतो.I spot a beautiful ceramic mug.
त्यावर छान नक्षी आहे.It has a nice design on it.
मी तो मग हातात घेते.I take that mug in my hand.
मी दुकानदाराला विचारते, "दादा, या मगाची किंमत काय आहे?"I ask the shopkeeper, "Dada, what is the price of this mug?"
दुकानदार म्हणतात, "मॅडम, तो चारशे रुपयांचा आहे."The shopkeeper says, "Madam, it is for four hundred rupees."
चारशे रुपये!Four hundred rupees!
बापरे, हा मग खूप महाग आहे.Oh my, this mug is very expensive.
माझे बजेट कमी आहे.My budget is low.
मी तो मग हळूच खाली ठेवते.I gently put the mug down.
मी दुकानदाराकडे बघून हसते.I look at the shopkeeper and smile.
मी नम्रपणे म्हणते, "दादा, हा मग खूप सुंदर आहे."I say politely, "Dada, this mug is very beautiful."
"पण मला तो आता नको आहे.""But I do not want it right now."
"धन्यवाद.""Thank you."
दुकानदार मान हलवतात.The shopkeeper nods.
मी पुढच्या दुकानाकडे चालत जाते.I walk towards the next stall.

Storyboard: Maya pauses at a fragrant flower stall where an older woman is stringing flowers. Before Maya even asks, the aunty brightly tells her the price of a fresh marigold garland. Maya happily asks for one to hang on her flat's door.
आता मला फुलांचा सुगंध येतो.Now I smell flowers.
इथे फुलांचे एक छोटे दुकान आहे.There is a small flower stall here.
फुलांचा सुगंध खूप छान आहे.The fragrance of the flowers is very nice.
तिथे एक मावशी बसल्या आहेत.An older woman is sitting there.
त्या झेंडूचा हार बनवत आहेत.She is making a marigold garland.
झेंडूची फुले अगदी ताजी आहेत.The marigold flowers are very fresh.
मी दुकानाजवळ थांबते.I stop near the stall.
मावशी माझ्याकडे बघतात आणि हसतात.The aunty looks at me and smiles.
मी त्यांना किंमत विचारत नाही.I do not ask her the price.
पण त्या स्वतःच मला किंमत सांगतात.But she tells me the price on her own.

मी एका छोट्या चहाच्या टपरीपाशी थांबते.I stop near a small tea stall.

मी खूप दमले आहे.I am very tired.
"दादा, एक कटिंग चहा द्या," मी म्हणते."Dada, give me one cutting chai, please," I say.

मी पर्समधून नाणी काढते.I take out coins from my purse.

चहाचा लहान ग्लास खूप गरम आहे.The small tea glass is very hot.
