Week 17: Maya takes a day trip to Lonavala

Storyboard: Maya woke up early yesterday morning to the intense, heavy heat of the city. She packed her own backpack with a water bottle and an umbrella, determined to escape to the hills for a day trip.
काल सकाळी मी खूप लवकर उठले.Yesterday morning I woke up very early.
मुंबईत काल भयंकर उकाडा होता.There was terrible heat in Mumbai yesterday.
हवा खूप गरम आणि दमट होती.The air was very hot and humid.
मला या उकाड्यापासून दूर जायचे होते.I wanted to get away from this heat.
म्हणून मी डोंगरावर एका दिवसाच्या सहलीला जायचे ठरवले.So I decided to go on a one-day trip to the hills.

Storyboard: Maya arrived at the busy railway station. She found her platform, boarded the outstation train bound for Lonavala, and settled comfortably into her reserved window seat before departure.
काल सकाळी आठ वाजता मी रेल्वे स्टेशनवर पोहोचले.Yesterday morning at eight o'clock, I reached the railway station.
स्टेशनवर खूप गर्दी होती.There was a lot of crowd at the station.
लोक स्वतःच्या सामानासोबत इकडे-तिकडे धावत होते.People were running here and there with their own luggage.
मी मोठ्या बोर्डवर पाहिले.I looked at the big board.
माझी लोणावळ्याची ट्रेन प्लॅटफॉर्म नंबर चारवर होती.My Lonavala train was on platform number four.

ट्रेन आधीच तिथे होती.The train was already there.

माझ्या समोर एक लहान कुटुंब बसले होते.A small family was sitting across from me.
एक लहान मुलगी तिच्या मोठ्या भावाकडे बघत होती.A young girl was looking at her older brother.

या सर्व लोकांना बघायला मला खूप मजा आली.I had a lot of fun watching all these people.
मग मी पुन्हा खिडकीबाहेर बघितले.Then I looked out the window again.
climbing the ghats
Storyboard: The scenery shifted dramatically as the train began its steep ascent into the ghats. Maya looked out of her window at the dry, sun-scorched brown valleys and rocky hillsides characteristic of the peak summer season.
काही वेळानंतर, ट्रेनने घाटात चढायला सुरुवात केली.After some time, the train started climbing the ghats.

त्यामुळे दऱ्या अगदी सुक्या आणि तपकिरी दिसत होत्या.Therefore, the valleys were looking very dry and brown.
डोंगरांचे कडे खूप खडकाळ होते.The hillsides were very rocky.
बाहेरचे ऊन खूप कडक होते.The sunshine outside was very fierce.
समोर बसलेल्या एका महिलेने तिची खिडकी बंद केली.A woman sitting opposite closed her window.
पण मी स्वतःची खिडकी उघडी ठेवली.But I kept my own window open.
मला त्या कोरड्या दऱ्या बघायला आवडले.I liked looking at those dry valleys.
ते दृश्य अगदी वेगळे आणि सुंदर होते.That scenery was very different and beautiful.

Storyboard: Stepping off the train in Lonavala, Maya felt an immediate, refreshing drop in temperature. She walked up to a platform vendor, called him 'bhaiya', and bought a packet of the town's famous peanut chikki.
ट्रेन शेवटी लोणावळा स्टेशनवर पोहोचली.The train finally reached Lonavala station.
मी स्वतःची बॅग पाठीवर घेतली.I put my own bag on my back.
मी ट्रेनमधून खाली उतरले.I got off the train.
प्लॅटफॉर्मवर लोकांची खूप गर्दी होती.There was a big crowd of people on the platform.
पण बाहेरची हवा एकदम वेगळी होती.But the outside air was completely different.
इथले तापमान मुंबईपेक्षा बरेच कमी होते.The temperature here was much lower than Mumbai.
मला थंड वाऱ्याची झुळूक जाणवली.I felt a cool breeze.
मी एक मोठा श्वास घेतला.I took a deep breath.
मला खूप ताजेतवाने वाटले.I felt very refreshed.
मग, मला प्लॅटफॉर्मवर एक दुकान दिसले.Then, I saw a stall on the platform.
तो दुकानदार लोणावळ्याची प्रसिद्ध चिक्की विकत होता.That vendor was selling Lonavala's famous chikki.
मी त्याच्याकडे चालत गेले.I walked up to him.

Storyboard: Leaving the bustling town center, Maya took a leisurely afternoon walk. She strolled slowly up the winding roads toward a well-known viewpoint, enjoying the quiet contrast to her busy Mumbai routine.
दुपारी मी लोणावळ्याच्या मुख्य बाजारातून बाहेर पडले.In the afternoon, I stepped out of Lonavala's main market.
बाजारात खूप गर्दी आणि गोंधळ होता.There was a lot of crowd and chaos in the market.
मला थोडी शांतता हवी होती.I wanted some peace.
मी एका प्रसिद्ध व्ह्यू पॉईंटकडे जायला सुरुवात केली.I started going towards a famous viewpoint.
हा रस्ता डोंगरावर जात होता.This road was going up the hill.
रस्ता खूप वळणावळणाचा होता.The road was very winding.
मी सावकाश चालत होते.I was walking slowly.
माझ्या पुढे एक माणूस चालत होता.A man was walking ahead of me.

मी आजूबाजूचा निसर्ग पाहत हळूहळू पुढे गेले.I went ahead slowly, looking at the nature around me.

Storyboard: Along the scenic path, Maya paused to watch a sudden commotion. A mischievous monkey snatched a distracted tourist's hat, prompting Maya to securely grip her own belongings.
मी त्या सुंदर रस्त्यावरून हळूहळू चालत होते.I was walking slowly along that beautiful path.
अचानक मला पुढे काहीतरी गोंधळ ऐकू आला.Suddenly, I heard some commotion ahead.
काय झाले हे बघण्यासाठी मी तिथेच थांबले.I stopped right there to see what happened.
काही पर्यटक तिथे उभे होते.Some tourists were standing there.
एक पर्यटक त्याच्या फोनमध्ये बघत होता.One tourist was looking at his phone.
त्याचे आजूबाजूला अजिबात लक्ष नव्हते.He was not paying attention to his surroundings at all.
तेवढ्यात, एका खोडकर माकडाने झाडावरून उडी मारली.Just then, a mischievous monkey jumped down from a tree.
माकडाने पटकन त्याची टोपी ओढून घेतली!The monkey quickly snatched his hat!
तो माणूस आश्चर्याने मोठ्याने ओरडला.That man shouted loudly in surprise.
"अरे!""Hey!"
"माझी टोपी!" तो म्हणाला."My hat!" he said.
पण माकड लगेच झाडावर चढले.But the monkey immediately climbed up the tree.
ते त्याची टोपी घेऊन एका फांदीवर बसले.It sat on a branch taking his hat.
तो पर्यटक त्याच्या स्वतःच्या टोपीकडे फक्त बघत होता.That tourist was just looking at his own hat.
तो काहीच करू शकत नव्हता.He could not do anything.
हे पाहून मी खूप सावध झाले.Seeing this, I became very careful.
मी लगेच माझी स्वतःची बॅग तपासली.I immediately checked my own bag.
मी माझी पाठीवरची बॅग दोन्ही हातांनी घट्ट पकडली.I held my backpack tightly with both hands.
मला माझ्या स्वतःच्या वस्तू माकडाला द्यायच्या नव्हत्या.I did not want to give my own things to the monkey.
मग मी तिथून गुपचूप पुढे गेले.Then I quietly went ahead from there.
the valley viewpoint
Storyboard: Reaching the top of the hill, Maya stood at the viewpoint looking down into the deep, expansive valleys. She took out her own camera to photograph the dramatic landscape, completely losing track of time.
मी शेवटी टेकडीच्या माथ्यावर पोहोचले.I finally reached the top of the hill.
तिथे खूप शांतता होती.It was very quiet there.
मी व्ह्यूपॉईंटजवळ उभी राहिले.I stood near the viewpoint.
समोरचे दृश्य खूप सुंदर होते.The view in front was very beautiful.
मी खाली खोल दरीकडे पाहिले.I looked down at the deep valley.
उन्हाळ्यामुळे सगळीकडे कोरडे आणि तपकिरी डोंगर होते.Because of summer, there were dry and brown hills everywhere.
पण ते दृश्य अतिशय भव्य होते.But that scenery was very grand.

मुंबईला परत जाण्याची वेळ झाली.It was time to go back to Mumbai.
मी स्टेशनवर गेले.I went to the station.

पण माझं मन पूर्णपणे प्रसन्न होतं.But my mind was completely refreshed.
